The Orange garden
The Orange garden - is a former orange grove tucked away on Aventine Hill above Circo Massimo. The immaculately manicured lawn, dotted with fallen oranges and picnickers, sets an undeniably romantic scene. It offers a delightful view through a grove of trees to the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica. The view is quite breathtaking – not quite as spectacular as the view from “Il Pincio” at the top of the Villa Borghese Gardens, but more intimate – and you can make out astounding detail since the Tiber, the ancient palazzi of Trastevere, and even St. Peter’s Basilica seem so close.
